William R. Brown Jr., productive in finance
2 min readWilliam R. Brown Jr., 80, of Lewes passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born June 22, 1941, in Warsaw, Va., son of the late W.R. and Virginia Brown.
Bill graduated from Strayer School in Washington, D.C. with degrees in accounting and fiscal administration. He done the Application for Executives in Point out and Area Government at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy College of Authorities and been given accreditation from the Affiliation of Governing administration Accountants as a Licensed Government Financial Supervisor. His distinguished job spanned over 40 yrs in governmental finance and integrated positions in the Point out of Maryland as controller for Anne Arundel County, director of finance for the City of Baltimore and director of finance for Prince George’s County.
He served on the boards of the Maryland Stadium Authority, Baltimore Enhancement Corporation, Baltimore Marketplaces Corporation, and the Maryland Area Government Coverage Belief and Municipal Employees’ Credit history Union. He was also the past president of the Maryland Federal government Finance Officers’ Association.
The U.S. Comptroller of the Currency presented him with the Association of Federal government Accountants’ Distinguished Management Award in recognition of sustained outstanding management in governmental fiscal management in 1983.
Bill beloved spending time sailing on the Chesapeake Bay for a lot of a long time prior to retiring to Delaware. He especially savored dwelling in Delaware in retirement and meeting new friends. He had a brilliant yellow Corvette and was active in The Beachcombers Corvette Club.
He is survived by Sandra (Majors) Brown, his beloved spouse of 60 yrs his 4 youngsters, Kevin Brown (Sue), Kenneth Brown, Kimberly Brown (Eric Rohrer) and Kara Weakley (Walter B) his four grandchildren, Eddie Stone (Shannon), Jason, Max and Dillon Brown and his four excellent-grandchildren, Chloe Stone, Cheyenne, Cameryn and Conner Sass.
Preparations for cremation are with Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lewes. A Memorial Support celebrating a life very well lived will be held at a later on date. He requests donations to SPCA 22918 Dupont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947 (bvspca.org) in memory of Jackson, Likelihood, Hope and Zoe.
